When you enroll for the first time, it is very possible that you do not yet know what the VSUZH is and does. When you enrolled for a degree program, you had the option of making three voluntary contributions:

Foundation "Loan Fund of the Student Body" with CHF 7

Foundation "Solidarity Fund for Foreign Students in Zurich with CHF 5

Membership fee of the Association of Students of the University of Zurich (VSUZH) with CHF 14
So you may not be sure whether you are a member of the VSUZH or not. But it is very easy to check, because your membership for the current semester is always visible on your validated student ID. So if the VSUZH symbol is missing on your ID, you should make up for your membership as soon as possible.
You can change your membership status in the student portal (see GIF):
Step 1: Log in to the student portal
Step 2: Go to "My enrollment and personal data"
Step 3: Click on "Contributions and memberships

Become a Member
Your membership is stored directly in the UZH database. The advantage of this is that you can always see your membership directly on your Legi/UZH Card.
You can view and change your membership status at any time in the student portal. Attention! However, the change will only take effect for the following semester. The deadline is the end of the enrollment period for the respective semester.
