Collection points for relief goods at UZH
City & Irchel Campus

Update of the day

Week 2

We would like to point out that the relief goods are collected exclusively for people in Ukraine. No refugees outside Ukraine are supported in this project.

Overview of all collection points with their opening hours.

Sa. 12.03

We are pleased to point out that the collection points at UZH are closed on weekends. Donations can be delivered to the central warehouse at Hardbrücke on Saturday from 16:00-22:00.

Fr. 11.03

Thank you very much for the many donations in the first days. We have received a lot of requests and try to respond to everything as quickly as possible. We ask for your patience if answers take a little longer or if a collection point is not manned. We assume that everything will settle down a bit in the following days.

Thursday 10.03

For tomorrow, Friday 11.03 we asking in particular for donations of canned food . They're going to be shipped to Mykolaiv tomorrow night. Mykolaiv is under siege and their food supply is running short. Many thanks for your help!

At the Irchel we are now in the new room Y10-F-24, feel free to come by!

Current times served at the UZH collection points:

Centre: 09.00-11.00 & 15.00-17.00

Wed. 09.03

We change rooms at the Irchel. From now on we will accept the relief supplies in the VSUZH Stübli, Y10-F-24. We apologize for the confusion.

Your help - MATERIAL donations

Note 1/2

For trouble-free transport to the central warehouse at Hardbrücke, we rely on all material being handed over in sturdy bags. Please do not use cardboard boxes.

All material is sorted, labeled and prepared for transport to the Ukrainian border in the central warehouse.

Here you will find the direct link to the Excel list:  LIST OF GOODS

Note 2/2

No medication or food is currently needed. In the first case Friends of Ukraine work directly with the train station pharmacies. In the second case they rely on food purchases and donations from Poland and the surrounding areas.

of the project

The logistics

The donated material is accepted at the various collection points in Zurich (e.g. UZH, ETH, ZHdK, and others) and temporarily stored centrally at Hardbrücke and transported from there to the Polish-Ukrainian border. The material must be inventoried and marked so that the movement of goods can run smoothly. At the border with Ukraine, the material is handed over to the Ukrainian military. This distributes the relief supplies to the areas where it is most urgently needed.

The relief supplies collected are used exclusively in Ukraine itself. It does not support refugees outside of Ukraine.

The project does not cooperate with the Ukrainian embassy in Bern. There is independent contact with Ukraine and its government.

Who is behind the project?

It is managed by Testasy - a startup operating in the medical field. The company was directly asked for help by the Ukrainian government, after which they started building the collection points. A broad network was set up in Zurich, Geneva and Warsaw in a very short time so that help can reach the Ukraine.

The aid project can only work with a lot of volunteer work, we are grateful to everyone who invest their time and money in this help. The project receives other smaller financial support from private individuals.

EXcourse - how else to help

Many opportunities to use you already exist!

The UZH Slavic Seminar has already published a great information page on the situation in Ukraine and the various offers of help. Feel free to stop by.

Context to aid projects

It is difficult for us to assess which aid is most effective and sensible. Various media professionals have already taken up this topic, such as thisSRF (see also below) or die Bern newspaper .

Friends for Ukraineor justTestasy are in direct contact with the Ukrainian government and have another important offer with the telemedical service, which they make available to the Ukrainian population. Together with them, many people are involved in the aid projects and have thus been able to set up their own functioning logistics. We are confident that the donated material will arrive safely and can be put to good use.

Always remember:Any help is valuable and only help as much as you can spare yourself.
